A drummer, a student, a musical style, a man.
Especially a man, because without being a man with a name, a person worthy of respect and trust, you cannot pass on valid notions to others and be credible.
Then it takes love for others.
Mr Cristiano Coraggio, GM Official Director for the Lazio Region, has all these characteristics, and he has amply demonstrated it in the first episode of his Jazz Style course, held in Turin on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the GM Drum School Headquarters.
To the classic two questions of each clinic, at the first: "what is Jazz", Mr. Courage responds with such simplicity that it put everyone in the mood to approach calmly the basics of this musical style, often considered able to be understood by a niche only, and relegated to the educated corridors of a compact and impenetrable helith.
"It is an ever-evolving musical style, born in the beginning of the last century in America from a mixture of Western Melodies and Harmonys and African rhythms."
This simple introduction was followed by simple demonstrations, involvement by individual participants in individual exercises, and parts where the Master exhibited his mastery on the drums, absolutely undeniable.
The clinic was followed by the lessons of the style courses where the teacher began to teach the basic principles of style based on the technical program that each of the students had already undertaken for a GM location.
To be a good teacher it is not enough to know how to play, but when in our case the teacher is also a very good musician, then we have a mixture difficult to resist and simply innarresable.
